Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a qualified and GDC-registered Dental Hygienist or Therapist to join our friendly team. We are an independent, busy and fully private dental practice, with 4 surgeries, located in Exeter city centre. We are also starting works this year to install a fifth surgery to cater for our ever-expanding patient list.

We are looking for a professional, passionate and enthusiastic dental hygienist/therapist with good clinical and interpersonal skills. You must be clinically focused and adhere to current periodontal guidelines and standards. A team player attitude is essential, and you must be pro-active in promoting the practice services and selling OH products.

Experience of SOE (Exact) computer software would be of benefit but is not essential as training can be provided if needed. A nurse will be provided to work alongside. We offer a pleasant, relaxed and friendly working environment in a patient-orientated practice. This is a part-time position, and we are looking for someone to join us initially for one to two days per week.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough dental cleanings and assessments to promote oral health.
  • Educate patients on proper dental hygiene practices and the importance of regular examinations.

  • Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with GDC regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and team members to foster a collaborative environment

We are looking for someone who has exceptional customer service and communication skills who can build their own patient diary with the support of an on-site mentor and fantastic administration and nursing team.

Our busy, modern private practice offers a wide range of treatments including implants, Invisalign, and sedation, creating a fast-paced and dynamic environment. With a strong focus on patient care and the latest in digital dentistry, we are looking for someone who can lead our front-of-house team with professionalism, warmth, and efficiency.

About the Role

As Reception Manager, you will be the first point of contact for our patients and play a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the front desk. You will lead a small team of reception staff, oversee patient bookings, support clinicians with diary management, and help ensure that every patient receives an exceptional experience from the moment they arrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing the reception team and front-desk operations
  • Overseeing appointment scheduling and patient flow
  • Providing outstanding customer service and handling patient queries
  • Ensuring accurate record keeping and data protection compliance
  • Supporting the wider practice team in delivering a seamless patient journey
  • Working closely with the Practice Manager on process improvements and service delivery

What We are Looking For:

  • Previous experience in a dental or healthcare reception/management role
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Highly organised with the ability to multitask in a busy environment
  • A proactive, team-oriented attitude with a focus on patient care
  • Strong IT skills and experience with dental software (e.g., SOE/Exact) is an advantage
