Fillings are a minor dental procedure used to correct a chipped tooth, decay or a minor reshaping of the tooth’s surface, to restore its natural shape and function. Fixing minor flaws with a filling at the earliest opportunity is important for dental health as it stops further deterioration of the tooth, and reduces the chance of needing more serious treatment in the future.
What are the advantages of white fillings?
We tailor-make our white fillings in a shade that seamlessly blends with the natural colour of the damaged tooth. The technology behind white fillings has come a long way in the last 30 years and they are now, stronger, longer lasting and more natural looking than ever. In most cases no-one will be able to differentiate between a filled and a healthy tooth. They provide a fast, cost-effective and long lasting solution to correct minor dental damage.
We can also remove any existing silver fillings and replace them with natural coloured fillings to give a more consistent, flawless finish.
How are white fillings placed?
Placing a white filling is a more skilled process than a traditional filling so the appointment takes slightly longer. After removing any traces of decay and preparing the tooth, the area is cleaned and thoroughly dried. The tooth surface is then coated with a bonding solution before the white filling material is placed into the cavity and then moulded to fit the existing contour of the tooth. Finally, light treatment is used to harden the filling before it is shaped and polished to match the natural tooth.
