Here at Contemporary Dental, we offer composite bonding to improve the shape, size, and colour of your teeth to help give you the smile you have always dreamed of.
What is composite bonding?
A composite resin is attached to the surface and shaped to mirror a natural tooth shape. It is used to cover up fractures, discolouration, enamel erosion and gaps between the teeth. Our dentists are experienced in composite bonding to help you achieve the perfect smile.
What are the benefits of composite bonding?
Non invasive
Bonding is a non-invasive procedure. With other treatment such as crowns and veneers, part of the enamel is permanently removed. However, with bonding the surface is slightly roughened for the resin to bond, meaning the structure of the tooth remains intact.
Effective
Composite bonding is a quick and effective way to fix minor cosmetic issues. It can usually be carried out in just one visit. The material used is strong and durable which means you can eat straight after the appointment.
Our composite bonding results
4 Step Process
Step 1 – Consultation
Full dental assessment to discuss what you would like to achieve, it also includes, oral cancer screening, gum health check, x-rays and a bespoke treatment plan including costs. If you require whitening, we will also take impressions at this appointment.
Step 2 – Hygiene
A routine hygiene appointment for a clean and polish to remove any surface staining, remove any hard deposits and to prepare the teeth ready for the treatment ahead.
Step 3 – Whitening (if required)
We give you your custom-made trays and gels to whiten the teeth before the bonding. As the composite material cannot be whitened, we make sure you are happy with the colour of your teeth before starting the bonding.
Step 4 – Composite bonding
This is the final appointment to carry out the composite bonding. The material is applied to the tooth and shaped to improve the appearance and shape. You will leave the practice with a perfect smile.

Composite bonding is completely pain free, which is part of the reason why it is so popular with many patients looking for an effective and cosmetic repair. None of your natural tooth structure or enamel needs to be removed to make way for the treatment so you will feel no pain or discomfort.
Yes, composite bonding is completely reversible. If you change your mind over time and no longer want the composite bonding material on your tooth, it can simply be removed. There are no lasting effects on your natural teeth and they will return to the way they were before treatment.
Composite is invulnerable to bacteria and decay, but the natural tooth underneath isn’t. Great oral hygiene at home will keep your tooth lasting for as long as possible. You may require maintenance on these restorations, particularly if you like to drink tea or coffee or enjoy other food and drinks that stain your teeth. This can easily be monitored at your regular check-ups.
Composite is a special dental resin made from a combination of plastic and glass. It can perfectly mimic tooth enamel and we can match it to your tooth colour so it blends seamlessly into your smile.
