Dermal fillers are ideal for deeper lines and wrinkles. They are one of the most effective modern facial aesthetic treatments to combat the signs of ageing and enhance the natural appearance.
Fillers are used to soften and contour lines and wrinkles on the face and neck area and are among the most popular non-surgical treatments with patients who want to restore the firmness and smoothness associated with youth.
What are dermal fillers?
At Contemporary Dental we use juvaderm a non-permanent hyaluronic acid-based filler that is now the leading choice among both practitioners and patients.
Hyaluronic acid is produced naturally in the body. It plays an important role in the body, giving volume to the skin, shape to the eyes and elasticity to the joints, but as we age our levels of production naturally decrease and this leads to a loss of volume in the skin. The success for hyaluronic acid is well documented in the medical world, particularly for eye surgery and orthopaedics, and is our filler of choice because of its high safety record.
How are dermal fillers used?
Dermal fillers are injected under the skin to add volume. We use thinner fillers to reduce the appearance of lines around the lips, forehead lines, frown furrows and crows’ feet. They can also be used to add volume to lips. Thicker fillers work deeper into the dermal layer of the skin, they can be used to smooth and add volume to hollow cheeks and fill out deep scars. The effects of fillers can last between six and eight months, but this varies from person to person and from one area of the face to another.
For facial aesthetic treatments we always provide a bespoke consultation before any work is undertaken to learn more about your skin, your needs and to make sure the treatment and results are suited to you.
